Gotta See It: Russian Goalie Embarrasses Himself

Russia's Amir Miftakhov was originally the team's back-up goaltender, but was able to secure the starting position with his impressive play. However, his lasting impression will not be his overall performance in the 2020 World Junior Tournament. Instead, we will all remember the embarrassing dive that was unable to fool the referees. Check it out.

Miftakhov attempted to gain his team an advantage by falling to the ground during the 2nd period. He was not at all touched on the play, but still acted as if he was in pure agony. After multiple complaints to the referees, his attempt to draw a penalty fell on deaf ears. This will be created into a meme used by hockey trolls for the foreseeable future.
