NHLTR: Calgary Flames Looking for Two Top-Six Wingers

Eric Duhatschek of the Athletic recently reported that the Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving is seeking a top-six winger to compliment stars Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan. The Flames cleared a roster spot and $4 million in cap space last week by trading forward Michael Frolik to the Buffalo Sabres for a draft pick. It appears Calgary is starting to aggressively pursue two specific trade targets.

The Athletic's Eric Duhatschek suggested the Flames are shopping forward Sam Bennett to a "few" teams to shore up the Calgary top-six. Andreas Athanasiou of the Detroit Red Wings and Tyler Toffolli of the LA Kings are the two wingers that GM Brad Treliving would like to add for a post season run. If the Flames can make a 1 for 1 trade involving Bennett, they have the cap space to add either Toffolli or Athanasiou for picks and prospects. The Flames won't part with Bennett easily, but Treliving is feeling the pressure to get the Flames past the 1st round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Look for the Calgary Flames to be all over the rumor mill leading up to the February 24th Trade Deadline.
