NHLTR: Maple Leafs send new trade offer to Wild for Matt Dumba
The Toronto Maple Leafs are only going all in this trade deadline if the team is in a playoff position as Kyle Dubas has let it be known his team's play will determine his activity. The Leafs have continued to talk to the Minnesota Wild, and after their initial offer for Matt Dumba was declined, they have made another offer.
According to sources connected to the Maple Leafs, the team has offered the Wild, defensive prospect Timothy Liljegren, forwards Alexander Kerfoot and Dmytro Timashov and a 2nd-round pick in 2021.
The Leafs are believed to have offered Cody Ceci in the first deal, however, Minnesota has zero interest in the RHD at this time. This causes quite the scenario for the Leafs as they are in a cap crunch, and they continue to work the phones to try and move money out in separate deals which includes Ceci and his $4.5 million dollar cap hit.
The Leafs have also received calls recently on Kasperi Kapanen and Andreas Johnsson, as Kyle Dubas will let the next 2 weeks play out before committing to a playoff run.
Look for the Leafs to be one of the busiest teams, should their GM feel the team is ready and willing to go for it, and if a deal is worked out with Minnesota, the two teams could easily set the trade market for this year's deadline.
