Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reported that the Oilers are eyeing a pair of forwards. Matheson lists Nashville's Nick Bonino and Detroit forward Andreas Athanasiou as possible trade targets. Jason Gregor of TSN1260 in Edmonton believes the Oilers would target Eric Staal(Minnesota Wild) Tyler Toffoli(LA Kings) Nick Bjugstad(Pittsburgh Penguins)
According to Jim Matheson, Oilers GM Ken Holland is not willing to part with a 1st round pick, but is open to moving a 2nd rounder and a defenseman or defensive prospect for another forward at the deadline.
Edmonton has a good amount of young defensemen they could dangle for help at forward. Caleb Jones, William Lagesson, Dimitri Samorukov and struggling veteran Adam Larsson are all rumoured to be available.
