Rumor: Avalanche To Acquire Henrik Lundqvist

King Henrik Lundqvist has played his entire career with the New York Rangers. He was selected in the 7th round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Looking at his career totals, it's safe to say he was a better 1st overall candidate than goaltender Rick DiPietro. Regardless, he has yet to win a Stanley Cup in his career and it is rumored that he would be willing to leave the Rangers for a cup contending team.

The Colorodo Avalanche have a great backup goaltender with Pavel Francouz, but Philipp Grubauer has not performed well enough to be relied upon during a deep playoff run. The Avalanche are rumored to be interested in Henrik Lundqvist. He not only has elite talent but his resume includes playing in the Stanley Cup Finals.
"While it's the consensus feeling the veteran goaltender doesn't want to leave New York, Mike Chambers of The Denver Post believe the Colorado Avalanche have a trade option in Rangers goaltender, Henrik Lundqvist." - Jim Parsons of "The Hockey Writers"
Previous reports of Carey Price playing for the Avalanche have fizzled as the asking price is simply too high. However, GM's Jeff Gorton and Marc Bergevin may find themselves competing to move their goaltenders in a blockbuster trade.
