Rumor: Kevin Labanc to Request Trade from Sharks

It was just six months ago when Sharks fans were cheering in the streets for Kevin Labanc. The 24-year old took a very team-friendly deal with the Sharks to help the team win. Now, his relationship with the organisation does not seem quite as strong.
Rumours are swirling that Labanc is looking for a fresh start with a new organisation. While he has yet to formally request or demand a trade, many believe that will come before the trade deadline.

Labanc is on a very cheap contract, at one million dollars for the remainder of the season. He will be an RFA at the end of the season, which would make him more desirable than an older rental player.

Despite not  matching the pace he scored last season (17 goals and 56 points in 82 games), Labanc has produced an respectable 11 goals and 26 points in 52 games this season with a struggling Sharks team.

His low cap-hit and RFA status at the end of the season would make him a very interesting player to target for teams looking to add depth at the forward position. I would expect the Sabres and Coyotes to call Doug Wilson by the trade deadline.
