Rumor: Matt Murray Done In Pittsburgh

Matt Murray is reportedly on the way out of the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. The Penguins protected the Stanley Cup Champion in the 2017 Vegas Expansion Draft instead of the future hall of famer, Marc-Andre Fleury. Just 3 years later and it seems that the soon to be RFA is on the way out of town.

Matt Murray is a young goaltender who has already won two Stanley Cups. At just age 25, there will be 30 other NHL teams seeking the services of the elite talent with the hopes of making him their franchise goaltender. He is set to become an RFA on July 1st, 2020, and his salary is expected to skyrocket compared to his current $3.75 million cap hit.
"You have to wonder about goaltender Matt Murray's future in Pittsburgh because he's been sharing duties with Tristan Jarry. The 25-year-old is a restricted free agent this summer - and mkaing 3.75 million this season - with rights to arbitration"                                - Bruce Garrioch "Ottawa Sun"
Notwithstanding the recent performances of Tristan Jarry, we can expect him to be the future of the franchise. The rookie is 13-6-0 with a 1.99 GAA and a 0.935 SV%. Though this is just a small sample of his ability, the Penguins are still prepared to hear offers that would take Matt Murray's talents to another market.
