Seattle Team Name Has Been Leaked

When the NHL accepted Seattle as an expansion city, the first question was what their team name would be. There have been polls taken and media members have given their opinion, but the organization has been rather tight lipped about this. The alleged team name has been leaked and you're not going to believe it.

The top 5 names for the new expansion team were said to be the Cougars, Emeralds, Rainiers, Sea Lions, and Sockeyes, to which the latter was the favourite. However, the leaked name of the team is not on this list.

According to John Haven of Mayorsmanor.com, the name of the team is the Seattle Kraken.

Here is a quote from Haven today on NHL Network Radio

"From everything that I've heard, it looks like Seattle Kraken is going to be the name. Which is quite surprising actually, when I was given that information just a couple of days ago. I was a little bit in shock personally, just because we had been told several times previously that was not the name they were going for. It looked like they were leaning toward Sockeyes."
