Tuukka Rask To Be Suspended

Boston Bruns' Tuukka Rask has joined the few who have declined an invitation to the 2020 NHL All-Star Game. This may come as a surprise as he has only participated in the event on one occasion. He has joined the likes of Alex Ovechkin and Marc-Andre Fleury, all of whom shall serve a one game suspension.

Rask has had an outstanding season with a 0.925 SV% and 17 wins. The Bruins expect to return to the Stanley Cup Finals again this year, and Rask is certainly a netminder who has the wherewithal to take them there. However, he will be forced to serve a one game suspension is lieu of his decision to not attend the All-Star Game.

Jakub Silfverberg has been excused from the event has he and his wife are expecting their first child. Marc-Andre Fleury has reportedly declined the invitation because he is still grieving the loss of his father. Other players such as Alex Ovechkin have stated that they would prefer to rest during this time.

Here's what Tuukka Rask had to say.
"I had to kind of be selfish. This game falls right basically in the middle of our bye week, so I wouldn't be able to do anything with family. So, just kind of a selfish decision to spend time with the family and go away and get your mind, body rejuvenated and be ready for the last couple busy months of the season."
