Vancouver Canucks looking to Anaheim to fill out Top-Six Forwards

The Anaheim Ducks have been near the bottom of the NHL standings almost all season. There is little doubt they will be sellers on the February 24th trade deadline. The Athletics's Bruce Garrioch stated he believes almost everyone on the Ducks can be moved outside of Captain Ryan Getzlaf, Goalie John Gibson and defenseman Hampus Lindholm.

The Vancouver Canucks have been looking for a winger all season to play with Bo Horvat. It has been reported that Ducks forward Ondrej Kase has fallen out of favor in Anaheim and the team is looking for a trade for the 24-year old Czech. Kase has one more year left after this year at a $2.6 million, he will be RFA in 2021.Rickard Rakell is also a possibility.  A 2nd round pick plus a prospect is believed to be the price for Kase or Rakell. The Canucks do not have their own first round pick this year(traded to Tampa for J.T. Miller) so Vancouver GM Jim Benning might be reluctant to deal his second rounder in what is considered to be a deep 2020 draft. The two teams are in the same division, so the Ducks would drive the price up.

The price for the Canucks to acquire Rakell from the Ducks would probably be their 2nd round pick and forward Jake Virtanen. If Benning wants to hold onto the pick it may turn into Virtanen and Forward Adam Gaudette for Rakell. The Vancouver Canucks are currently first in the super tight Pacific Division. Adding to their top-six forwards is a priority for the Canucks if they are going to hold onto a playoff position.
