According to TSN’s Darren Dreger, the New York Islanders have acquired Jean-Gabriel Pageau from the Ottawa Senators. The return is “a lot” according to Dreger.
The New York Islanders have acquired Jean-Gabriel Pageau in a trade. The Senators acquire a 2020 1st, a 2020 2nd and a 2022 third. There are conditions on two picks. If the 2020 first rounder is a top 3, the pick will be moved to 2021. If the Islanders win the Stanley Cup this year, the Sens will acquire the third round in 2022.
Pageau is in the final year of a 3-year contract he signed back in 2017. He carried a $3.1M AAV. He current has 24 goals, 16 assists, 40 points in 60 games this season. He will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
The Sens now have 3 first round picks where 2 of them are projected to be a top 5.
