Breaking: Maple Leafs and Kings agree on trade
Kyle Dubas has found a dance partner as the Toronto Maple Leafs and LA Kings pulled off a trade late Wednesday night. The Leafs couldn't solve the Rangers on Broadway and enough was enough, changes were needed. Kyle Dubas loves to stick to his roots and he showed it once again with this deal.
To the Kings: LW Trevor Moore and a 3rd-round pick in 2020, and conditional 3rd in 2021
To the Leafs: LW Kyle Clifford and goalie Jack Campbell
The Maple Leafs have acquired goaltender Jack Campbell and forward Kyle Clifford from Los Angeles in exchange for forward Trevor Moore, Columbus’ third round pick in the 2020 NHL Draft and a conditional third round pick in 2021. #LeafsForever— Toronto Maple Leafs (@MapleLeafs) February 6, 2020

For the Leafs it's instant upgrades in the crease and for their overall team toughness. Clifford was one of the character guys for the Kings and letting him go was a very tough decision. 'Mr Handyman' as he's known to the Kings will be counted on to hit everyone in site and stick up for his teammates in Toronto. The Kings will retain 50% of Clifford's remaining salary for this season.
Forgot: when Kyle Dubas was an agent, his first client was...Kyle Clifford— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) February 6, 2020
Jack Campbell has now been acquired twice by Kyle Dubas, just happens that the first time was in the OHL. The former first-rounder will be counted upon to carry the load if Freddie Andersen is out for another week. It looks like Campbell has been chosen as the back up of the future as he's signed for two more seasons at $1.6 million per.
The Kings begin their retooling as they acquire a speedy winger with a ton of offensive potential. More minutes for Trevor Moore is exactly what the winger needs and expect Moore to surprise on the west coast. The home town kid is going home and although it must be bittersweet, going home makes it much easier to digest.
Let the trades begin.
