NHLTR: Max Domi going to Tampa Bay Lightning
The presence of Montreal GM Marc Bergevin and assistant Scott Mellanby in Colorado at the Avalanche/Lightning game has sparked numerous trade rumors involving some surprising names.
TVA Sports has reported that the Canadiens are getting plenty of calls on forward Max Domi. The Tampa Bay Lightning are the latest team to have interest in the pending RFA. It is believed that the Montreal Canadiens would want forward Yanni Gourde from the Lightning in exchange for Domi.
Tampa Bay made the first move before the deadline, acquiring Blake Coleman from the Devils. The Lightning are clearly looking to add grit along with scoring for this year's playoffs, Tampa Bay GM Julien BriseBois is determined not to have a repeat of last years disappointing first round defeat to Columbus. Many people around the NHL saw a far more talented Lightning team get grinded down by a harder working Blue Jackets club, Domi would be a perfect fit with the Bolts. Yanni Gourde has a full no-trade clause, so he would have to agree to the deal.
Things are heating up with only 6 days until the trade deadline, will the Canadiens make a blockbuster on February 24th?
