The Buffalo Sabres have added some veteran presence to their forward core as the team made a deal with the Devils.

It’s a conditional 5th round pick going to NJD from BUF for Wayne Simmonds, can turn into a 4th.

Simmonds made it clear to the Devils he wanted to get traded closer to his home in Ontario, as he has an infant daughter and a couple of dogs to care for. He mentioned on Sportsnet's trade deadline show, he could see himself staying in Buffalo long term.

The Sabres have been busy today and more deals could be announced before the deadline.
