Rumor: Flames and Devils discussing multiple players
The Calgary Flames are clinging to the final wild card spot in the Western Conference and with two days to go until the NHL trade deadline, Flames GM Brad Treliving has been reported by Sportsnet that he is looking for a right shot top-six forward as well as a right shot puck moving defenseman. The New Jersey Devils have been linked to the Flames for sometime now and the two teams may pull off a huge deal at the deadline.
Sami Vatanen has been rumored to be available for most of the season. Vatanen is a UFA at the end of the year and probably would cost the Flames a 3rd pick(possible conditional 2nd if Vatanen re-signs) The Devils also have Wayne Simmonds, he is also a UFA, but it is believed Calgary would want a player with term left. Kyle Palmieri has one year remaining after this and is a proven 25 goal scorer. Palmieri would not be cheap however, the Flames would have to offer Sam Bennett along with their 1st round pick and maybe goalie prospect Jon Gillies to get a deal done with the Devils.
New Jersey is stock piling picks for the upcoming draft, will the Devils go full fire sale in the next few days?
