Rumor: Penguins closing in on trade with the Sharks
The Pittsburgh Penguins are trying to load up for the playoffs and are in deep discussions with the San Jose Sharks about Patrick Marleau.
The deal is believed to be for a conditional draft pick in 2021, as the Penguins are already without their 1st and 2nd round picks in June's draft.
No word yet if Joe Thornton will also be in the trade, as the Pens have limited resources to ship out of town but alongside Malkin and Crosby could certainly be a landing spot for Jumbo and his longtime teammate.
San Jose Sharks taking calls on both Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau today. Totally up to them if they sign off on going to a contender for a chance to win a Cup. Both would be welcomed back to SJ on July 1 if they wish. Pittsburgh has shown interest in Marleau.— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) February 24, 2020
