Rumor: Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist demands trade
According to sources connected to the Rangers, Henrik Lundqvist has let it be known to management he prefers a trade and a opportunity to play. The New York Rangers are trying to move veteran goaltender Henrik Lundqvist as rookie sensation Igor Shesterkin has arrived on the scene and taken over the helm. The Rangers have discussed Lundqvist with several teams and so far no takers.
The Swedish veteran has one more year left on his deal at $8.5 million and the Rangers are believed to be interested in eating roughly $2 million to facilitate the deal.
The Colorado Avalanche were hot and bothered with Lundqvist but have since turned to resigning their own tandem.
The Arizona Coyotes and Columbus Blue Jackets are reportedly kicking tires on 'King Hank', so keep tabs on both clubs as we approach Monday's deadline.
Lundqvist has played in 28 games this season and may find himself finishing his career outside of the Big Apple.
