Breaking: Toronto Maple Leafs To Miss Playoffs Due To Temporary Format

The Toronto Maple Leafs have not won a playoff series since the 2004 season. They have had many talented teams during the 2010’s, but the Boston Bruins have stood in their way. Now, the temporary playoff format has prevented the Maple Leafs from making the 2020 playoffs entirely. The Coronavirus has struck again.

The NHL has announced that the 2020 playoffs will include only 6 teams per conference who will partake in a 3 round, best of 5 series tournament. The Carolina Hurricanes clinched the 6th and final spot in the Eastern Conference over the Maple Leafs despite having the same point total. The Hurricanes have played less games and therefore have a greater point percentage. What a tough pill to swallow for Leafs Nation.
