Dominant KHL goalie Ilya Sorokin ready to sign with NHL team

One of the top stars of the KHL appears to be on his way to North America and the NHL. According to Sports Express' Russian hockey insider Igor Eronko, Ilya Sorokin will not re-sign with his current team CSKA Moscow when his contract expires April 30th. Sorokin is considered to be one of the best goaltenders that is not currently in the NHL, he was perhaps the most dominant goalie in the history of the KHL, even though he is only 24 years old. In four seasons with CSKA Moscow, Sorokin has never had a save percentage under .931. Sorokin also led Moscow to the KHL title last season and was named playoff MVP. Before this years KHL playoffs were shut down, Sorokin had a GAA of 0.73 and .966 save percentage over four games.

The New York Islanders are the team that will be adding the potential star goaltender. The Isles will have a Russian in the pipes for quite some time, having just signed Semyon Varlamov last summer. There has been an influx of quality Russian goalies lately with Igor Shesterkin(NYR) Ilya Samsonov(WSH) and Andre Vasilevskiy(TB) all showing signs of dominance at times. Will Sorokin live up to the lofty expectations? or will he crumble like so many other KHL stars?
