NHL willing to delay start of next season to complete 2019-2020 season
Hockey fans have long known how stubborn NHL commissioner Gary Bettman can be when he digs his heels in on something, look no farther than the multiple lockouts under Bettman. Bettman seems determined to complete the current season and was a guest on CNN with Anderson Cooper last night and discussed how it may be possible to complete the 2019-20 season.
Bettman would state in the interview with CNN that the "league isn't ruling out any possibilities for resuming the season, including playing games at neutral sites or altering the schedule for 2020-2021 season." Pierre Lebrun of TSN reported last night that the NHL is willing to delay the start of next season until November in order to finish off this season with summer hockey. The NHL believes they can play a full season next year starting in November if they cancel the all-star game, the bye week would be gone as well, and the playoffs would stretch into the last days of June '21.
Will Bettman's bullheaded approach work like it has in the past? or is he just not willing to accept the inevitable?
