Rumor: Braden Holtby to sign with Edmonton

The Washington Capitals have enjoyed the presence of Braden Holtby in their crease for years, however, there's been a ton of rumblings around the league that the veteran goaltender will be looking for work elsewhere next season. Ilya Samsonov is ready to be handed the keys. Insert the Edmonton Oilers.

The Oilers have been rumored to be very interested in the Capitals netminder, who is from Saskatchewan and would love a chance to play closer to home, especially while he is still in his prime. Oilers GM, Ken Holland is believed to be considering signing the free-agent, only if he's able to trade Mikko Koskinen or buy him out from the final $9 million owed on his overpriced deal.

The Oilers would love to include a steady presence in net to help alleviate some of the pressure on their undermanned defense core. Holtby has won a cup, he's from western Canada, and he's the perfect fit for Edmonton. If Holtby signs, expect the deal to be a 3-year term and roughly $7 million.
