Rumor: Dustin Byfuglien to sign in Montreal

Dustin Byfuglien has had quite the week. The bruising NHL veteran reached a mutual agreement with the Winnipeg Jets earlier this week, resulting in 'Big Buff' walking away from $14 million guaranteed dollars. A bold move to say the least, and speaking of bold moves, Habs GM, Marc Bergevin may have one up his sleeve.

Rumors are circulating the hockey world the past couple of days, that Dustin Byfuglien is leaning towards signing with the Montreal Canadiens next season. A chance to restart his career in a hockey hotbed makes a lot of sense for any hockey player, but the way 'Big Buff' operates, it doesn't always make sense.

This is the same guy who got drafted by Chicago, and then unplugged his house phone, so the team couldn't call him all summer about reporting to rookie camp to work out. The team had to send someone to his front door to make sure he was still alive. Byfuglien went on to explain he wanted to concentrate on fishing and hunting during the summer months and only wanted to think about hockey in the winter.

Look for a decision to come July 1st, and even though Montreal is the favorite, there's plenty of unknown still to be unraveled in the curious case of Dustin Byfuglien.
