Trade Bait: If Boston dealt Brad Marchand, 3 deals to consider

The entire NHLTR team wanted to send our best to you and yours. The pandemic has put a lot of things into perspective and life is much bigger than sports right now. With that being said, we continue to plug away at content and a recent conversation with a Bruins fan has sparked the latest episode of Trade Bait. Ladies and gentlemen, what if the Bruins got fed up with Brad Marchand?

Marchand is loved as much as he's hated and he wouldn't want it any other way. He packs a complete 200-foot game and has the ability to score in bunches, rattle the other team with his chirps and antics, and he's one of the NHL's fiercest competitors. Any team would be upgraded with Brad Marchand in the fold. Let's take a look at this from the angle the Bruins give David Pastrnak the keys and move on from 'Marchy' and his face-licking distractions

If the Bruins traded Brad Marchand, 3 deals to consider:

To the Colorado Avalanche for Samuel Girard, Tyson Jost and a 1st-round pick.
One thing about Marchand is, he's underpaid. At under $7 million per, for the next 5 years, the Pest has one of the best value contracts in the league. So does his close buddy Nathan MacKinnon, and these two would love nothing more but to play together in Denver. If there's any chance Marchand waives his NMC, Colorado would be near, if not, at the top of his list.

To the St Louis Blues for Robert Thomas, Colton Parayko and a 1st round pick.
St Louis would be giving up a lot in this deal, but adding a superstar sniper is hard to come by. Some times people forget Marchand is a 100-point a season producer. Riding shotgun with the likes of Tarasenko, Schenn, Perron and O'Reilly, would give the Blues another element to their offense that would make them scary up front. Boston, on the other hand, would be getting pieces for both ends of their team and adding Thomas and Parayko, would give the Bruins a new dynamic. McAvoy, Carlo and Parayko on the right-side. Name a better trio...we'll wait.

To the Calgary Flames for Noah Hanifin, Andrew Mangiapane, and goalie prospect Tyler Parsons.
Trading Marchand would cause a sh*t storm in Bean Town, but what better way to calm the nerves than bringing back a Boston product. Hanifin would be a golden child for the Bruins and is the perfect replacement for Zdeno Chara. Hanifin and McAvoy for 5-years on the top-pair for the B's, I think the fans would sign up for that. Mangiapane has 25-30 goal potential and could jump into the top-6 and Parsons gives the Bruins a goalie for post-Rask life. Calgary, meanwhile, may be a tough sell for Marchand to accept a deal, as he loves life on the east-coast, or life by the water, so there's little chance he would approve the move.

Brad Marchand is a family man, who loves to fish and hunt and play hockey. It feels like he's the type of player who could play his whole career for one team, but if the Bruins need a change of pace, look for 'Marchy' to walk his way out of town and maybe into one of the cities mentioned above.

Stay safe, stay home.
