Alberta Premier Fighting For Edmonton Oilers

Since the NHL paused league play on March 12th, 2020, there has been nothing but uncertainty. The league has announced a strategy to resume play, which includes two host cities. Canada's Covid-19 restrictions are much tighter than the US, which could prevent Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto from hosting the 2020 NHL playoffs.

Alberta Premier, Jason Kenney, is fighting for the City of Edmonton to host the 2020 NHL Playoffs. The Province's Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, shared guidelines in a letter to Gary Bettman that the NHL would have to abide by if the playoffs were to be played in Edmonton.

Deputy Commissioner, Bill Daly, responded.
"If we're not able to really get an interpretation of the quarantine consistent with out players' ability to travel in and not have to do a strict-quarantine in a hotel room... we won't be in a position to use of the Canadian cities as a hub."
Jason Kenney has written to Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, requesting the government put in place similar restrictions as the US to facilitate the NHL playoffs.
