Steve Yzerman Makes Huge Coaching Announcement

On June 9th, 2015, Jeff Blashill was named as Head Coach of the Detroit Red Wings. In his 5 seasons as the bench boss, he maintains a 135-143-47 record. The team has not made the playoffs since his first season as head coach. Steve Yzerman has finally weighed in on the future of Jeff Blashill.

Red Wings' fans have been calling for the firing of Jeff Blashill for quite some time. The team has been far from playoff contention and have seen very few positive developments. Steve Yzerman will be entering his second season as General Manager and has announced that Jeff Blashill will remain the head coach.
" I have no plans on making a coaching change at this time. It's unfair to judge Blashill based on our record at this time. We need to improve the team to truly critique the coaching staff." - Steve Yzerman
It seems that Yzerman does not feel Blashill is a liability to the team's future success. Perhaps Blashill is a much better coach than he's given credit for, but Hockeytown won't be patient for too much longer!
