75% of NHL Players Do Not Want To Resume Play

Today marks 110 days since the NHL first paused the regular season. Although the league fully intends to award the Stanley Cup, the circumstances surrounding the resumption of play are beginning to sour.

According to Eric Engles, some players have anonymously spoke on this issue. One player stated that calls with the NHLPA have been “a joke” and only focus on the financial outlook of the league.

Engels also states that his sources believe that roughly 75% of players do not want to resume play. The league may have grand plans to continue, but nothing can be implemented without their players. Perhaps if the NHLPA begins to discuss health and safety measures with players, they may become willing to participate in the 2020 playoffs.
