BREAKING: Auston Matthews Tests Positive for Covid-19
The NHL has announced their plan to resume play with a 24 team playoff. The caveat being that the coronavirus subsides and regions lift their restrictions. Things had been progressing well, but today has been an absolute bombshell for the major sport leagues. Auston Matthews is the latest player to be impacted by the pandemic.
Earlier today, the Tampa Bay Lightning shut down their facilities as players and staff had tested positive. Toronto Maple Leafs' Auston Matthews is the latest player to test positive for covid-19, according to Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun.
Matthews had been quarantined with teammate Frederik Andersen for an extended period of time, but their arrangements recently changed. Andersen did not test positive for the virus, but others were not so lucky. A number of Arizona Coyotes players who were training with Matthews have also tested positive for covid-19.
