Kyle Dubas and Steve Yzerman chosen to save the AHL
The AHL cancelled the remainder of the 2019-2020 season after the Covid-19 pandemic gave the league no chance to be able to financial sustain operating without generating revenue off of the fans. Zero attendees, zero chance, was basically how the leadership team of the AHL explained it during the announcement. Now, there's a new temporary leadership team in place to get the AHL back on the ice, and it includes Maple Leafs GM, Kyle Dubas and Red Wings executive VP and GM, Steve Yzerman.
The league is in good hands....
A very smart move for the league to hand over it's strategic planning, as there are several teams on the cusp of folding. Let's hope it doesn't come to that as the league is full of history.
