New details emerge on match-ups for Stanley Cup Playoffs
It's all happening people and the hockey world could not be more excited. Today, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman confirmed some details regarding the playoffs for the NHL's return, after there were finally some decisions made on how exactly the format would shape up.
What we do know is, hockey is coming back and considering the lay-off, the amount of teams in the playoffs, and the health of each team, this is shaping up to be one of the most competitive playoffs in history.

So yes, the first round series will be a best of 5, and once 16 teams remain, they will be reseeded for the top-seed to play the bottom-seed and so on. The NHL Playoffs will not be bracketed, but re-seeded after every round. Qualifying will be best-of-five. All other rounds will be best-of-seven.
