Vegas named hub city for NHL playoffs

Vegas has been confirmed as a host city for the 2020 Stanley Cup playoffs, and it's expected to be officially announced within the next week. Gary Bettman recently mentioned recently there is even potential for three cities to be hubs for the league's comeback, so we'll wait to see how this all plays out.

The 14-day quarantine protocol in Canada is playing a major factor with training camp locations for the Canadian teams. They have begun to solidify a plan B, of hosting training camp in the US, as it doesn't really matter where you train, as long as there's ice.

Toronto continues to be heard as another favorite to be named a hub city, but don't expect to see any Leafs games at Scotiabank Arena. It's been rumored the west coast teams would play at the 'eastern' arena, to ensure nobody has 'home ice advantage'. We'll see how that plays out. With a potential for 3 cities to be named, there's still a small chance the league uses Vegas for only the conference finals and Stanley Cup finals, and two other cities take care of the rest. At this point, it appears a few things are still on the table.

It makes a ton of sense for Vegas to host as the league can basically take over a hotel with unlimited amenities and everything they need for accommodations is within close proximity. It also happens to be Gary Bettman's baby, which doesn't hurt the cause.

Vegas baby Vegas!
