23-year-old Russian prospect dies during training camp

Horrible news out of Russia as forward Pavel Krutiy has passed away after getting taken to hospital during training camp. The 23-year-old forward played for HC Yuzhny Ural Orsk of the VHL (Supreme Hockey League).

Krutiy was attending practice when he notified the medical staff he was not feeling well. Then examined by team doctors, Krutiy was immediately rushed to the local hospital where after being admitted to the ICU, he passed away. A pulmonary embolism which is a essentially a clot in the lung was ruled potential cause of death during the preliminary diagnosis. Scary stuff considering Krutiy had no prior medical history.
