Chicago Blackhawks Prohibit Native American Headdresses
There have been a number of professional sports teams that have changed their name and logo, namely the former Edmonton Eskimos and Washington Redskins. The Chicago Blackhawks stated that they would not follow suit, but they have made some changes in order to respect Native American culture.
The Blackhawks organization has formalized their promise to create an atmosphere of respect and educate themselves and their fans on Native American culture. In collaboration with their Native American partners, the organization will prohibit fans from wearing headdresses at games and events.
