Rumor: Buffalo Sabres receive interesting trade offer for Jack Eichel

The Buffalo Sabres haven't been shopping captain, Jack Eichel but they have certainly been listening. While most of the league is getting set to explode in Edmonton and Toronto, the Sabres bubble is bursting at the seams. With the changes that transpired in Buffalo recently, a roster shake up is coming next. If the Sabres receive an offer they can't refuse, they may have no choice but to move the 'dissatisfied with losing' Eichel. The latest comes from Cali.

NHLTR recently spoke with a league employee close to the Anaheim Ducks operations and let's just say we were surprised as much as you:
Anaheim is a team to watch because they're in transition with a top-pick and immediate needs, meanwhile they need someone for Getzlaf to pass the torch too. If Buffalo and Anaheim pull this off it will be for the #6 overall pick, and a package that includes the likes of Hampus Lindholm, and one of either - Sam Steel and Max Jones. Huge price to pay but when you're getting back a young-stud like Eichel, you make the move to energize your franchise and aging stars.
Anaheim has an advantage as they are able to chat with the Sabres whenever they please about trades. Eichel is only 23, making $10 million, however the kicker is he has nothing when it comes to trade protection. Quite frankly, his agent should be fired.

It will be curious to see if any big names get moved over the playoffs, as you would think teams would want to wait to hear offers from everyone first before pulling the trigger. It certainly adds to the leverage aspect of negotiating.
