Rumor: Detroit Red Wings To Sign Torey Krug

The cat is out of the bag. Boston Bruins' Torey Krug is more than likely to hit the open market after the playoffs. The Detroit Red Wings are reported to be the frontrunner in the sweepstakes.

Torey Krug is a local kid. He is from Royal Oak, Michigan, which is just a stone's throw away from the City of Detroit. He played under-18 hockey with Compuware and college hockey at Michigan State University.

He also played in the USHL under the Red Wings' current coach, Jeff Blashill. After recent trades and players leaving to free agency, there will be sufficient cap space to sign Krug. His veteran presence would also benefit their young defence core, namely Dennis Cholowski and Moritz Seider.
