Rumor: Montreal Canadiens preparing another offer sheet

The Montreal Canadiens are never shy to put themselves out there right in the front of the league's eyes. Last season it was an offer sheet for the Hurricanes' Sebastian Aho, years before it was the PK Subban trade, and this off season the St Louis Blues may want to keep an eye on the Habs.

It's being reported from Canadiens insider, Arpon Basu, the Canadiens could be gearing up an offer sheet strategy to send to St Louis, to try and sign LHD, Vince Dunn.

Dunn, 23, is still on his entry-level deal, which sees him making $722, 500, however, it's expected Dunn could receive roughly $4.5 million per year, on his next deal. If the Habs come in at 5 years, $22.5 million, it's unlikely the Blues would match.

St Louis' biggest concern is re-signing captain, Alex Pietrangelo, and judging by his recent comments to the media, he's not going anywhere. 'Pietro' will be signing for north of $8 million a year, which doesn't leave much money under the cap for someone like Dunn.

Look for the Blues to move some players out this upcoming off season to free up some cap space for their defencemen. Backup tendy, Jake Allen, and forwards Alex Steen and Tyler Bozak are primary targets.

For now, the Habs are preparing themselves with what could be a crazy few months for the team. From taking on Sid and the Pens, to potentially drafting first overall, to throwing down another offer sheet, there's never a dull moment in Montreal.
