Rumor: Robin Lehner headed north in free-agency

Robin Lehner has put up solid numbers in his career, one that he has been very open and honest about. The soon to be 29-year-old goaltender, finds himself backing up Marc-Andre Fleury in Vegas, and the Swedish tender will be an unrestricted free-agent, once open season begins. So far in Vegas, Lehner has been a force, going 3-0 with a 1.67 gaa and a .940 save %. But what happens next year.?Recently TSN analyst Craig Button was asked and his answer may surprise some.
The Ottawa Senators, right where he started his career. He would return there in a very different place, not only on the ice; the last two seasons he has been an exceptional goaltender, but also off the ice in terms of what he has done in his life. When you look at the Ottawa Senators, a young team, they have no goaltender in their system that is the caliber Robin Lehner. It would be a nice fit to push them along a little bit further as they become a contender.
As Ottawa is rebuilding with no top-prospects banging on the crease door, Lehner makes a ton of sense in Ottawa. Young teams need stability in net, and Lehner is more than capable of producing. This could turn itself into quite the feel good story if Ottawa is able to have success in a couple years with Lehner between the pipes.

Look for Calgary, Edmonton, and Chicago to also have interest in Lehner. Time will tell, but one thing should be for sure, Robin Lehner should be a starting goaltender.
