Team Canada's Olympic lineup will be scary good
With all the back and forth going on with the NHL and the NHLPA, one great piece of information that dropped over the weekend, is the fact the NHL will be returning to the Olympics. For many countries that is huge news, however, for Canadians, it hits home a little harder.
The thought that Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid were never going to be able to suit up for Canada was wearing on people, but it appears if all goes well with solidifying the deal with the IOC, players will be allowed to suit up in 2022 and 2026.
While the Americans, Swedes, Russians and Fins will be a hard test, the Canadians come in as the favorites and rightfully so. Recently some folks at Sportsnet put together what the team could look like, and it's scary how good this lineup could be.
Honorable mentions to the likes of Tyler Seguin, Taylor Hall, Bo Horvat, Jamie Benn, Jonathan Toews, Sean Couturier, Brent Burns, Kris Letang, Mark Giordano Aaron Ekblad, PK Subban, Shea Weber, Ryan Ellis, and Marc-Andre Fleury. As per usual, the Canadians could probably put together a 'B' team and make some noise in the tournament.
Shout out to the Blues and Maple Leafs who lead the way with 3 players a piece expected to be in the lineup.
