The NHL is returning to the Olympics
The NHL sent players to the Olympic Games from 1998-2014. They declined to participate in the 2018 Games in South Korea. It now seems that NHL players may return to the Olympics for the foreseeable future.
NHL players will return to the Olympic Games if the modified Collective Bargaining Agreement is finalized, pending an agreement with the International Olympic Commitee (IOC). This agreement would allow players to play in the 2022 Games in Beijing and the 2026 Games in Milan.
If the NHL/NHLPA finalize things, if the players ratify it, and subject to negotiation with IOC, sounds like proposed CBA extension includes the NHL’s return to Olympic participation covering both 2022 and 2026. Which is 👌— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) July 1, 2020
