Blockbuster Rumor: Maple Leafs and Blues discussing monster trade
Toronto Maple Leafs GM, Kyle Dubas admitted to the media on Tuesday, he plans on making more changes to his roster and it turns out the next move could be with the St Louis Blues.
According to sources in close contact with the Maple Leafs, the team is in the middle of talks with the St Louis Blues, for a right-handed defenseman.
The talks include LW Andreas Johnsson, RHD prospect Timothy Liljegren and the Maple Leafs newly acquired 1st round pick (15th overall) going to St Louis for defenseman Colton Parayko.
St Louis has extensions kicking in for forward Brayden Schenn and d-man Justin Faulk, so they are tight pressed against the cap with arguably their most important player hitting free-agency in Alex Pietrangelo. 'Petro' made it perfectly clear to the media yesterday, he has zero desire to leave St Louis.
The Leafs are working the phones shopping their depth wingers to free up money for an impact defenseman, and Colton Parayko fits the bill. At 27, and with two years left on his deal, Parayko would slide into the top pairing for the Leafs, riding shotgun to Morgan Rielly.
These two teams have a history of trades and with both having specific needs, on the ice and within their financial books, they align perfectly to construct a deal.
"According to multiple NHL teams, no fewer than four intriguing Leafs are being dangled to varying degrees."@mirtle on Kyle Dubas' clean win Tuesday & why he's not done yet.https://t.co/5NGR5dYxEL
