BREAKING NEWS: NHL receives formal request to suspend today's playoff games!
The NHL has received a formal request from the Hockey Diversity Alliance to suspend today's playoff games.
After the NBA suspended games Wednesday and Thursday, and several MLB games were also boycotted, the NHL decided to go ahead on Wednesday with their games as scheduled. This caused outrage from not only some of the players but also some on the national broadcasts felt they shouldn't be there and should be instead, standing up for social injustice by suspending the games and raising awareness much like the other sports leagues.
Here's more on the matter:
We the @TheOfficialHDA have formally requested the @NHL to suspend all playoff games today. We strongly feel this sends a clear message that human rights take priority over sports.
