Edmonton Oilers Are Shopping Newly Acquired Forward
GM Ken Holland gave his season ending press conference and addressed many topics. He is certainly disappointed with how the season ended and had much higher expectations for the team. He made some moves during the season and he is now forced to rethink the direction he is heading.
Holland was the GM of the Detroit Red Wings for 22 years and has developed relationships with many players. Riley Sheahan was a familiar face when Holland first arrived, but he brought in Mike Green and Andreas Athanasiou in separate trades earlier this season. Mike Green is now a UFA and is not likely to be resigned. However, Holland spoke about Athanasiou.
"I had a relationship with Athanasiou in Detroit. We were trying to bring in more offence... I think that Athanasiou's impact wasn't as good as I hoped. So I'll assess over the next six, seven weeks leading into the offseason."
