Justin Schultz is done in Pittsburgh
The writing is on the wall for defenseman, Justin Schultz who finished up a mediocre season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, by having his worst stretch of games in his career. In a flat salary cap world, the Pens won't have room for Schultz to return, and if you ask Pens Gm, Jim Rutherford, they don't want him back anyways.
Rutherford was quick to defend Jack Johnson, who played with Schultz for most of the year, including the playoffs, stating Johnson receives all the slack and it's not fair.
Schultz, is a right-handed shot, who can show promises offensively, so he may not receive a raise on his $5.5 million dollar deal he was under last year, but he will definitely find a home. It just won't be back in Pittsburgh.
I'm sure UFAs are dying to sign in Pittsburgh when they see how Justin Schultz is being absolutely thrown under the bus right before he hits the free agent market.
