Rumor: Kyle Dubas Is Looking To Add Size & Aggression To Maple Leafs Roster
Toronto Maple Leafs fans have been tortured for far too long. On paper, they are arguably the best team in the NHL. However, they have yet to perform in the playoffs under the reign of GM Kyle Dubas. He is now looking to tweak the formula in order for the team to be competitive in the post-season.
As previously reported, Joe Thornton is expected to sign with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Kyle Dubas is also looking to bring in an affordable, sizable, and edgy defenseman.
Washington Capitals Radko Gudas is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the playoffs. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman referred to Gudas as "Future Toronto Maple Leaf, Radko Gudas", and expects him to sign with the team during the off-season.
He is 30 years old and his annual cap hit is currently $3.350 million. This is extremely affordable for a player who is known to have a mean streak and can have a significant impact on the team's post-season success. He is known to cross the line, evidenced by a 10 game suspension earlier in his career, but perhaps this is what the Maple Leafs need to progress in the playoffs.
