Maple Leafs in a battle to sign Bruce Boudreau

The Toronto Maple Leafs are trying hard to convince Bruce Boudreau to join the team as an assistant coach, which we reported on earlier this week. Turns out it's not going to be easy for the Maple Leafs as several teams could soon be lining up for his services.

Dreger on TSN1050 talks about the rumours surrounding Bruce Boudreau joining the Leafs as an assistant, but mentions Boudreau is also looking at the fallout in Calgary, Chicago and even Washington. "Is it conceivable he could go back to the Capitals?"

You can't blame Boudreau for waiting this one out. While the other teams decide what to do behind the bench, it gives the Leafs ample time to hold conversations to try and convince Boudreau about an assistant coaching position over being a head coach.

His love for the Leafs and the city of Toronto gives the Maple Leafs a small advantage as they can pull on his heart strings. Boudreau has never been shy about his feelings and it's clips like this that remind us, if Toronto comes calling, Boudreau will always be all ears.
