Jets' coach Paul Maurice was extremely upset and stated that he believed it was a dirty play and that Tkachuk injured Scheifele on purpose. The entire hockey world supported Tkachuk and condemned Maurice's comments, and Mark Scheifele has followed suit.
Here is what he sad to say.
"The way my parents raised me is you forgive everyone and that's all you can do. You wish the best on every person."— Murat Ates (@WPGMurat) August 11, 2020
Mark Scheifele says he wishes it wouldn't have happened but he doesn't hold onto hard feelings towards Matthew Tkachuk.
"I'm very lucky that it wasn't worse than it was. Initially I thought I tore my Achilles and was done for six months."— Mitchell Clinton (@MitchellClinton) August 11, 2020
Scheifele said he was happy to hear he didn't need surgery or anything. He said Tkachuk reached out and the two talked about the play.
