Jack Johnson has been on the block for almost a year and has three years left on his deal, paying him just north of $3 million per year. Meanwhile, Murray is due a new contract as he's a restricted free-agent this upcoming off season. Rutherford has admitted he needs to make changes and move some money out, and Murray has already been linked to Toronto, meanwhile Johnson hasn't been linked anywhere.
Rutherford has mentioned as long as he's in Pittsburgh, you can expect to see Malkin and Crosby, so don't expect either of the big-two to be moved. Sid for sure, but moving Malkin would be the blockbuster deal everyone is waiting for.
With no first or second round pick at this year's draft, Rutherford's hands are a bit tied and it's not likely he gets back fair value on the dollar in either deal.
Buckle up Pens fans, and expect the unexpected!
