Rumor: Edmonton Oilers To Trade For Frederik Andersen

The Edmonton Oilers are in a peculiar situation. Their offensive production, thanks to Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, is fantastic. However, their efforts were stunted by poor goaltending, particularly in the post season. GM Ken Holland is now looking to veteran goaltender Frederik Andersen to solve their problems.

Mikko Koskinen finished this post season with an 0.889 SV% and a GAA of 3.16; absolutely brutal. His regular season play was not much better, with a 0.902 SV% and a GAA of 2.95. He has a cap hit of $4.5 million, which is rather low for a starting goaltender.
Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Frederik Andersen could be the answer for the Edmonton Oilers. His team is great on paper, but their offensive production has been lacking, especially in high pressure moments. However, Andersen posted a 0.936 SV% with a GAA of 1.84 in the playoffs, and a 0.909 SV% with a GAA of 2.85 in the regular season.

The Oilers are prepared to give a generous offer to the Maple Leafs. Andersen would be sent to Edmonton in exchange for Mikko Koskinen, Evan Bouchard (elite prospect), and a second round draft pick.
