Rumor: Edmonton open to moving RNH
The Edmonton Oilers find themselves with their backs against the wall. The Oil are down 2-1 against the Chicago Blackhawks and are facing elimination, which has surprised most of the hockey world. The Oilers are of course, led by their two-headed monster, however it's their secondary group that is feeling the heat. According to a western conference executive, if the Oilers don't have success these playoffs look for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to be put on the trade block.
The Oilers are a team to keep an eye on. It feels like Kenny Holland will pull the trigger on a draft day trade if his team crumbles again these playoffs. James Neal is hard to trade because of his age, but someone like RNH could fetch some help on defense. At almost a point a game, teams like Montreal, Columbus, Boston and Dallas would have interest.
RNH is 27, and has one more year left on his deal at $6 million. Certainly a move-able contract and a name that could fetch a decent return on his own or maybe even parlayed with another piece...
