Rumor: Maple Leafs To Hire Past Jack Adams Trophy Winner As Assistant Coach
Sheldon Keefe took over as head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs part-way through last season, after the firing of Mike Babcock. Some have been critical of this decision as Keefe is a rookie coach, but many have been quick to support him. The team is now considering adding a former Jack Adams winner to their coaching staff.
Bruce Boudreau won the Jack Adams Trophy as the league's best coach in his rookie year back in 2007-08. He is an offensive mind who has been the bench boss on many competitive teams. The Minnesota Wild fired him during this season, but he is ready to to forward.
Elliotte Friedman suggests that Boudreau is likely to serve as an assistant coach to Sheldon Keefe. Boudreau was born and raised in Toronto and still follows the team to this day. Although it's not a head coaching position, there may be a personal inclination to work for his hometown team.
