Rumor: Montreal plan on making moves at the draft!

The Montreal Canadiens impressed the rest of the league with their efforts during the NHL's restart. A team built around Carey Price showed they can hang with the big boys, eliminating the Pittsburgh Penguins and giving the Philadelphia Flyers a run for their money. With young emerging top-end talent, and a nice balance of veteran leadership, the team is ready to pounce on the trade market and take a run next season.

The Habs currently hold 14 picks at this year's draft, and if the right deal comes along, Habs GM, Marc Bergevin is ready to pull the trigger:

As far as assets, yes, we have I believe 10 picks in the top three rounds in the next couple of years, [and] we have 25 overall. So we’re set that way,” Bergevin said during his 30-minute, season-ending press conference Saturday. “We’ve put ourselves in a good position to look around. If anything becomes available, we should be looking into that… If we can make our team better by moving a pick or players that we feel can make us better for a long period of time, we’ll do that

With almost $20 million in cap space and some of their best players still on entry-level contracts, nobody in the league is set up better than the Montreal Canadiens. While someone like Taylor Hall is intriguing, it's not likely they throw all their eggs in one basket this year.

A trade for 'smart' contracts is much more likely. Look for the team to add another defenseman who can move the puck and a bruising winger with offensive punch.

If you're a Habs fan, enjoy...the next few seasons could be some of their best hockey in years.
